Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan has a distinguished business success and public service record. He has served as a senator twice and was elected twice as a member of the Punjab Assembly.

From 2015 to 2018, he was SAPM Revenue, with the status of Federal Minister. As a Senator from 2006-2012, he served as a senior member of standing committees on (1) Finance, Economic Affairs, Revenue, Statistics, and Planning and Development; (2) Commerce; (3) Industries and Production; (4) Petroleum, Natural Resources and Minerals and (5) Sports, Culture and Tourism.

An ardent believer in parliamentary oversight, he worked extensively on six federal budgets. He contributed to combating the circular debt in the energy sector. He was at the forefront of weeding out corruption in state organizations and promoting a climate of growth in Pakistan’s economy.

Mr. Haroon also worked to prevent match-fixing in Pakistani cricket and to reform the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) so that cricket is governed more effectively. His public speaking ability was widely regarded in the parliament, with his annual budget speech particularly noteworthy.

Mr. Haroon has a Master of Science in Actuarial Science and Business Administration from the University of Manitoba, Canada. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (USA) and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. At the time of qualification, he became the youngest actuary in the history of the profession.
